Run it against a listing that has already gone quiet, or the reading cannot be attributed to anything.

An item that is still gathering traffic on its own gives you a number you cannot attribute. If the delivery arrives while ordinary interest is arriving, the two are inseparable a day later and the reading proves nothing. A listing that has settled produces a difference that belongs to the order and to nothing else.
Write down the figure and the time before ordering. Leave the item alone until the window closes. Check once from a browser where you are not signed in and compare the two numbers rather than the impression the page gives.
If the difference is roughly what you expected, the order reaches the right item and registers publicly. That is the whole finding. Whether the figure moves anybody toward a purchase is decided by price and presentation, and this metric does not describe either.
Run it once, read it once, and let that be the end of the exercise. A settled listing plus a single comparison is as clean as this measurement gets.
